flights

When booking flights, it is absolutely critical that you enter your client's information exactly as it appears on the ID they will be traveling with. Changes to names, dates, locations, etc. often require new tickets be issued and there is generally a fee associated with this change.

It is also vital that you inform your clients what is and is not included with their booking (seat selection, baggage).

If you have clients traveling with service animals, you should contact the airline directly to see what is required. Note that most airlines no longer allow emotional support animals and there is a distinction between service animal and emotion support animal.

For more information on general flight booking, no commission flights (where you must notify Admin), price-matching, and more, view the guide below.

AIR BOOKING OPTIONS

Air Canada

Air Canada flights should only be booked directly in our agent portal and not through a consolidator. Consolidators charge fees in addition to airline fees that your client will have to pay if they need to make changes. Flights booked directly with the supplier are also more easily managed.

Each agent has their own username/password for this portal. This portal also allows you to manage booked flights, provides important Air Canada contact information, and houses Air Canada travel agent documentation. We do not have an Air Canada BDM and they cannot be reached by email. Commission amounts are outlined in the document linked below.

Air Canada Agent Portal

Note: To find the most up-to-date commission information for Air Canada flight only, visit the Air Canada Agent Portal, click on Resources, then Time of Ticketing, and then Time of Ticketing Commission. Choose the location your clients are flying to and use the provided chart to determine the commission amount. Your Air Canada flight confirmation will list the class and associated letter. Note, commission is only on the Base Fare part portion and not the total price.

WestJet

WestJet flights should only be booked directly in our agent portal and not through a consolidator. Consolidators charge fees in addition to airline fees that your client will have to pay if they need to make changes. Flights booked directly with the supplier are also more easily managed.

Each agent has their own username/password for this portal. This portal also allows you to manage existing bookings. Additional information and commission info are in the guides linked below.

While it is not your specific role to advise on air passenger rights issues, it is still a good idea to be aware of these. Please only refer to official information from the Government of Canada.

Expert tip: It's a good idea to sign up for alerts on your client's flights if the option is available. This allows you to know if any issues arise immediately and be ready to advise.
